As I recall, Sonny Perdue is not being an asshole like the other Southern GOP governors
I don't recall reading any stories about him considering refusing the stimulus money.

1. He is...
This article ran in today's AJC:

http://www.ajc.com/news/content/metro/stories/2009/02/22/perdue_stimulus_funds.html

Seems ole Sonny-boy is parroting the GOP's talking points on the "strings attached."

I will be writing a letter to the sonnavabitch about this too. My "favorite" (read most sarcastic) quote from the article is this:

“We’re going to be doing due diligence on each one of these components and deciding what’s in the best long-term interest of Georgians.”

Sonny does not act with the best long term interests of Georgians in mind, only the right wing "christian" "conservatives" in mind (which is why he always poo-poos Sunday alcohol sales - seem my separate post on that one).

Please write the SOB and let him know your thoughts.

Here's the text of my letter (which has likely gone into a blackhole, but what the hell - I feel better for sending it):

Dear Governor Perdue:

I strongly urge you to do what's best for Georgia by accepting all funds available to the State under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The situation is dire for too many of our State's citizens to even consider turning down portions of the available funds.

RT Atlanta

4. RT....
You were far more polite than I'd have been. When I send sunny my letter it's going to scold him for playing politics with out of work people that need all the help they can get.

5. He wants to run for President
He is smart enough to know that playing games will backfire on him.
