...so he would, at least, be eligible. But my guess is that he probably couldn't get elected down this way today. This state has become the poster-place for right-wing, reactionary, neanderthals. Just take a look at the peckerwoods that populate our Congressional ranks - Broun, Gingrey, Westmoreland, Price, Kingston, just to name the more famously asinine. Plus, I don't want Jimmy to waste his breath, or energy, on the 'lost cause' that is the State of Georgia if she keeps keeping Republicans in power here.
There is one guy that might be able to 'pull it off' - win the Governorship, that is - Roy Barnes. For those that aren't familiar, he was taken down in the same election that took Max Cleland out. Diebold electronic voting machines, along with the most deceitful of campaigns, robbed Georgia of a wonderful Senator, but perhaps more importantly, one of the most enlightened and effective Governors we've ever had. Why, because he had the 'temerity' to follow the request of Atlanta's city-fathers (black and white) to remove the symbol of racism from the State Flag in an effort to avoid losing the opportunity to host the Olympics and other 'high-profile' events. That along with a decision to hold teachers more accountable for the 'bottom of the barrel' education system.
Roy will be making a comeback next year and, God Willing, will prevail. Jimmy should stick with solving the world's problems, Georgia's are too hard.
