John Kerry is our choice for nation's next president
The Bush administration went wrong in the planning and prosecution of the war, shifting resources and supplies away from Afghanistan before achieving success there where real terrorists had been plotting against America.
The administration, ignoring Pentagon recommendations, dispatched an inadequate military force to keep Iraq in some semblance of order after the initial invasion. To make matters worse, we sent our young men and women into harm's way without adequate body armor and in vehicles which didn't provide adequate protection. And Bush's closest advisers badly underestimated crucial points, such as how rapidly the Iraqi insurgency would grow and what steps should have been taken to get Iraq back on its feet after Saddam was overthrown.
President Bush steadfastly refuses to acknowledge he made such mistakes, and says he would do it all over again because Saddam ultimately would have continued with a program to create weapons of mass destruction. Such thinking is not only flawed, it suggests that the president doesn't learn from lessons history teaches us.

Sen. Kerry presents us with some concerns, but they are outweighed by the fact that George W. Bush has shown repeatedly that nothing will change if he is re-elected.Read the complete editorial
