Iraq Veterans Against the War - Hawaii Events!

Aloha Hawai'i,

IVAW-Hawai'i, with the great support of NION-Hawai'i, distributed a couple-hundred IVAW leaflets in Waikiki on the 23rd of July. I must say, although Hawai'i is a blue state, the overall feedback was pretty damn negative.

Though people were willing to stop and listen to what we had to say, no one came outright and asked me, "what can I do to help?"

I'd like to continue to target the military community here in Hawai'i. We need to get the word out that there is such thing as a Veteran Left! ... or even an Active duty Left! Not every military member is a Bush poster child!

I have been taking leaflets everywhere. The Haleiwa Arts Festival, The art walk, the movies ... download some leaflets at my website and leave them places. (http://grantsurf.com/IVAWHawaii.html)

STOP THE WAR MARCH (NION) IN WAIKIKI. IVAW-HAWAII WILL TAKE PART IN THIS. HELP IS NEEDED TO CARRY THE IVAW BANNER, PASS OUT LEAFLETS, OR JUST BE SEEN MARCHING WITH US WITH YOUR VETERAN COLORS!

I have been waiting and waiting to see vets from the current Iraq war come out in droves to march against the war and to finally slap the faces (metaphorically speaking) of all the chickenhawk weekend warriors.

During Vietnam American had the student movement and the Veteran’s movement!

Today we have only the student/civilian movement!

The Iraq veteran’s movement has begun and will flourish as long aswe gain the support of more Vets and their families!

3. Hawaii's blue but the visitors can be from Alabama, Nebraska and other red

states. That's what you'd be dealing with in Waikiki.

I'll bet most of the positive reponse you got was from Canadian tourist.

4. did you get any response from the locals?

so many of them work for the military that i bet they'd be negative.

i think i mentioned one of my acquaintances there in hawaii business w/ CHENEY and calls him a COOL GUY, and has encouraged him to get the filipinos and portuguese populations into the GOP.

of the group i know in HI ( middle aged locals ) a lot of them seem to be bushbots.
