Abercrombie won't run for governor

U.S. Rep. Neil Abercrombie, D-Hawai'i, said today he would not run for governor next year against Gov. Linda Lingle.

At a news conference, Abercrombie said he was honored that friends and supporters had urged him to run, but he decided he wanted to continue his work in Congress.

Abercrombie said he would campaign for the party's eventual nominee and predicted Lingle could be beaten despite high approval ratings and a fundraising advantage. "I think her support is an inch deep," he said.

have "high approval ratings" then? Are they like bush's "high approval ratings" before Katrina?

Too bad about Neil Abercrombie..surely there a Dem in Hawaii who would make an excellent Governor?

Neil's great but he's got allot left to do in congress with the 'Homeward Bound' amendment's failure.
