Hawaii 01 Still Not Locked Up
I think a lot of people assumed Republican Charles Djou would be a rent-a-Rep in this really, REALLY blue district, but Colleen Hanabusa can't seem to seal the deal, and now trails Djou in another poll. Hopefully some locals can give me a reason not to consider her an underdog.

1. I'm vacationing in Hawaii right now and saw two Hannabusa ads, one followed by the other.

Claims that she made a sweetheart deal with a local developer who served her husband's interests and raised all these taxes, of course.

I gotta say that my brother--who doesn't keep up with politics--and I just sat there flabbergasted.

The reason why she hasn't closed the deal is because these ads are very effective. Very. They had me believing that this woman is corrupt.

And I see Djou signs everywhere. Everywhere! I knew that he's a Republican. I didn't know that she is a Democrat. That's just how invisible she's been. :(

2. It's locked up, okay?
She kicked his tail. The ads weren't all that effective after all. For an incumbent, it was a very poor showing by Djou. Colleen had the Japanese and the union vote, which has always been the formula for success in Hawaii elections.
