Another Conservative talk Radio station coming to Hawai'i
http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/2004/Jul/23/ln/ln04a.html

KPOI-FM, a well-known and once-influential rock 'n' roll radio station broadcasting at 97.5 on the FM dial, will take on new call letters, becoming known as KHNR-FM in the next few weeks as it changes hands in a transaction awaiting approval from the Federal Communications Commission. <snip> The transition is connected to a shakeup in the ownership of Hawai'i radio, with New Wave moving out of the market.

Salem operates conservative talk and Christian music stations nationwide, including Christian radio station KAIM 95.5 FM and conservative talk station KGU 760 AM on O'ahu.

1. Excuse me while I
:puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke:

Will someone please tell me why one of the bluest of "blue states" needs five of these fascist mouthpieces, counterbalanced only by two of Air America's programs (Franken and Randi Rhodes) and, sort of, by NPR?

I don't suppose anyone is looking for a free-thinking, non-fascist local alternative to Rick Hamada (hint hint)?

Salem rant: They took our only 50,000-watt station, KAIM 870, off the air to pave the way for a power increase for their (more lucrative) L.A. station. The most powerful AMs left are at 10,000 watts; thus, there is a wide area of the Pacific that can no longer receive broadcasts from Honolulu, thanks to Salem's greed, so unseemly in such a "Christian" company.

3. Salem radio did an amazing thing yesterday...
They were actually broadcasting speeches from the Democratic convention- at least, before Rev. Al Sharpton did his thing.

That was on the show by "Hew Hewitt," which is kind of odd, because he's as frothy fascist as they come.

They compared Michael Moore to Sister Souljah and Pat Buchanan, but the comparision obviously falls flat- especially when they put this in front of a Democratic Congressman who got right back on message.

Still, the idea that relatively unfiltered Democratic ideas coming through on a fungelical station gives me a scintilla of hope.
