Poll question: Honolulu mayor's race
Yup, it's already in full swing. Leading candidates Mark "Duke" Bainum and Mufi Hannemann suffered from politicus interruptus when Jeremy Harris was forced out of the governor's race by overblown campaign finance allegations, courtesy of the repuke hit squad.

Thus, they already have nice, fat war chests to work with, and they're already on the air. Any chance Hannemann might have had to sway my vote (I met Bainum in his old councilmember's office once) ended when he put on ads bragging -- bragging! -- about having worked for Reagan! :puke: The "Our City, Our Mayor" bit is not helping with my (haole) self, either: to me it sounds like "Our City, not the haoles', and not the haole, Bainum, for mayor".

So, here you go: cast your vote here, courtesy of DU's new Diebold voting software

1. Met Bainum on several occasions, had meetings with him.
basically, found him to be very rich in wanting to give back to the public. Similar to Kerry I suppose. Duke gave a year of free service(he is MD) in some Asian Country(I forget) after Graduating from Med School.
A bit naive in the political realm but basically very honest. That was 4 years ago, today is 4 years later, a lot of things have happened to him in the Council, mostly all good. I have his invitation to join his effort but haven't responded yet. I will in due time.

Mufi, I never met the guy, don't know anything about him other than public knowledge.

Duke enjoys a 10 point lead according to major paper in Honolulu.

2. Duke is a personable politcian. He's polished and energetic. He'll win.
