2. I was unable to attend, but we'll probably get an answer on Tuesday.
I'm anxious to know also.

3. Lots of resistance, relatively few resisters
Edited on Tue Jul-05-05 01:13 PM by KamaAina
it almost seemed like there were more people staffing the booths than there were people attending.

There was good entertainment, particularly the slam poets (who are nationally recognized). Of course, perhaps half the people still there by 1:30 were there just to see Makana, who appears to have a Following of sorts (it took me back to the old days in the parking lot at Dead shows).

Main speaker Tim Goodrich is a clean-cut kid from Buffalo who did a tour in the Air Force during the "no-fly zone" period. He came to realize that the "no-fly zones" were little more than cover for nearly continuous bombing raids. He got back just around the time the "shock and awe" phase began, and quickly turned against the war. AN important perspective to have out there; remember what happened when people started coming back from the 'Nam with "Apocalypse Now"-type stories.

Edit: Ono Pono lives up to its advance billing. If you're anywhere near Palolo around lunchtime weekdays, you can do worse than to head up there (it's in an old mom-and-pop on Palolo Ave.).

4. They never did have the open mic poetry that was on the program
so I'll just have to put my little piece here.

It's written directly to Bush**, which gets kind of tricky because if I use too many big words he'd have to go and get Mr. Cheney to explain it to him. So...

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
Quagmires suck
And so do you.

Violets are blue,
Roses are red,
You lied and now
Seventeen hundred are dead.

Thank you. Thank you very much. </elvis>

5. think neil abercrombie would ever speak?

he was big during my UH days.

Thomas Square was a nice location. Shady, too, as I remember. ( I'm in SoCal now ) I remember once we had one at Kapiolani Park. good luck w/ future ones. never give up.

I have an acquaintance there who does building for DOD, thus making a killing and calls Cheney a 'cool, fun' guy and wants to deliver Hawaii to the GOP ( told Cheney to go after the 'Filipinos and Portagees' - his words not mine ) selling out his own kind to the GOP.

keep up the good work. i would hate to see Hawai'i go red.
