LA/MS/AL/GA/SC/NC/VA DUers - take the Peace Train to DC

I just found out about this today and I have no additional details other than this massive train starting in New Orleans and making about 2 dozen stops in Southern US enroute to the Washington DC protest. Hell if I lived down south I know I would be taking this train - it's going to be fricking amazing!!

The Louisiana Activist Network has moved on to its next project: to organize a PEACE TRAIN from New Orleans to Washington, D.C. picking up activist groups across the South, on our way to a mass rally gathered together to represent the solid antiwar majority right in the government's own back yard on
September 24, 2005.

The train leaves New Orleans early on September 22nd.

4. I've ridden the Crescent from Birmingham, AL to Slidell, LA.

It's an amazing train trip. I'm going to try and go. I'll need to investigate where to stay in DC.

On an unhappy note, the AJC reported yesterday that John McCain and other Republicans want to get rid of the Crescent! :wtf:
we're in the middle of an energy crisis and peak oil and they want to ax an important train route. Trent Lott (among other Southeastern Repubs) are pro-Amtrack since much of the route is through Mississippi.
