DC is booking up solid that weekend and I'm finding the only thing left is the really high-priced rooms or those really seedy places over on NY Avenue.

Your best bet if you're coming to town and need accomadations and can't afford the expensive stuff is to start looking out in the suburbs.

Places I would look for hotels would include Arlington, Alexandra, Rosslyn, Silver Springs, Crystal City just to name a few.

This is the DC Metro:

The number one question you should ask any of the hotels you are considering is this: Is the Metro within walking distance of your hotel? You really don't want to rent a car and you definately do not want to be driving in downtown DC. Washington DC is going to be a sellout that weekend between us and the IMF.

So even if you're still up in the air about attending the protest - RESERVE YOUR HOTEL ROOM. Check with the website because most SHOULD just be a 24-72 cancellation policy however some websites might charge you so avoid those.

2. Try Rockville MD too
There used to be some motels near the metro when I lived there several years ago. You can also try Gaithersburg MD

4. I found a hotel on Lastminutetravel.com
I just got it two days ago. I got a great rate. If anyone wants to try the mystery hotels on that site, I stayed in one in LA once. I got just what was advertised. It was a good hotel but in a location that wasn't near much. Just read the descriptions carefully.

5. Cheverly, MD has a
Howard Johnson with a metro station near by (New Carrollton). It has rooms available as of a few minutes ago. We are staying there and stayed there for the Pro Choice march in May. Nothing fancy but clean and comfortable. The site said they have a shuttle to the Metro Station. I went through Hotel.com but went to Howard Johnson's site too. Rooms ran from 79.99 for 2 adults.
