RFD's Saturday night still happening along with Operation Ceasefire
There has been much confusion over Saturday night especially since one group wanted to do a private room type party and our original intentions for Saturday night was just a destination where we can all meetup, have a few drinks and then head on back to the National Mall.

The Operation Ceasefire Concert starts sometime after the protest is overwith and will be happening until 2am the next morning. In fact at the PDA website the concert is called: 3:00PM "Operation Ceasefire" Concert & Rally featuring Cindy Sheehan so I know that I definately want to join in that festivities too.

Our plans is to meander over to RFDs on Saturday night, grab some food & drinks. But eventually head back to the Concert since let's face it - the mall will be happening all night long and I know this is what we are really all here about - to be a part of something really big and I want this to go on all night!!!

So I hope to see many of you there. We're going to try to get there around 7 (or whenever) and we'll all take it from there!

2. I know, I think we're going to do the concert most of the night
We're heading over to RFDs so we can grab something to eat, grab a drink and meetup with the DUers who don't feel like venturing out to the suburbs for a party.

I think the Mall is going to be an amazing place that night and I want to miss as little of it as possible (ok, I might not make it til 1am but I'll try)

Lynne

3. I'd be struggling with 1a.m myself!
It used to be so easy. Can you sleep on the Mall? lol

Really am looking forward to seeing you and the other DUer's. Sooo excited!!
I even put a du bumper sticker on the bottom of my sign.

Do you know if there would be any problem with carrying signs on the Metro? I hate to have to leave it behind.

We ended up going with Tyson's Corners Comfort Inn. And I don't have to drive much on the Beltway!! I'm even excited about the Metro rides. It will be myself and a friend from Pittsburgh. Celtic Winter couldn't make it after all, rotten economy..

4. DC has never been a problem with sticks used in signs but....
...always best to use those tubes you find in gift wrapping. I know that's the norm in NYC.

DC has allowed sticks; however, this time the protest is going to be unusually large so better safe than sorry!

5. Do I need to take my sign off the stick or

could it be alright to put tube over the stick without removing? I guess I could always bring my staple gun. I am a virgin to marches so all advice is deeply appreciated.
Thanks for all!

And I hope this march is HUGH111:evilgrin:

6. LynneSin, I had this PM exchange with EstimatedProphet

>>Street NW, Washington, DC-1 block from the Tenleytown metro,

EP -- Yes. Hawk and Dove will be going Friday night. Cafe Prince is Saturday night, instead of RFDs.

So which is it?

7. There will be people heading to RFDs on Saturday night
RFD starts an hour earlier too just in case someone wants to do both.

The RFDs is also in the city and is convienient for those who want to meet some DUers before they leave the city for the night plus many of us want to do the Operation Ceasefire concert that night.

RFDs was never a problem until we asked for a reserved rooms. The other place was willing to offer that. Our intent for both Hawk & Dove and originally with RFDs when I posted this ages ago was a place where people could just casually drop by.

If 5 people swing by RFDs on Saturday night the party will be a raging sucess but I also plan to be at the biggest party of all which will be the protest that goes on til 1 am in the next morning

:D

8. The Hookah party is going to be great.
The RFDs event is still going to happen. There are going to be two DU-related events on Saturday.

I'm going to be at RFDs for dinner after the protest, then I'm going to take in a concert, then I'm going to go to Cafe Prince.

:smoke:

This is going to be great!
