Green Festival
Anyone else here go to the Green Festival?

I went today (Saturday). It's on Sunday too.

Mixed verdict but worth going. There is a *lot* of rampant "green" consumerism and marketing P.R. in the exhibit hall but a lot of worthy businesses there too. You have to use your instincts and pick out what is useful from what is just marketing.

What I found most useful is there are several vendors there selling sweatshop-free, union-made and fair-trade clothing. I wound up buying some.

Plus, most of the outfits peddling their yoga-guru-organic-whatever tea, biodegradable laundry detergent, and patchouli-flavored hempseed energy bars are passing out free samples, which more than pays for the $15 entrance fee. So I can't entirely badmouth the rampant "green" marketing and P.R. since I came home with a huge bag of their free samples :)

On the more serious side there are a lot of seminars and speakers all weekend.

Anyone else go? What did you think?

3. Thanks, the movement room looks interesting
and I might want to buy some clothes.
Looks like it might be worth going.

4. I went to the Green Festival.
Thanks for the heads up.

I found out that Lowe's and Costco have six-packs of
super compact fluorescent blubs like can be used
where 60 watt bulbs are used, the light looks the same.

I've already partially converted to fluorescent bulbs,
but this will enable me to convert more.

Using fluorescent bulbs is a great way to help cut down
on global warming while saving money at the same time.

I went to 3 classes in the Movement room. One was Nia,
which is a combination of dance, martial arts, and yoga.
The next was Fendenkrais, which is like range of motion
physical therapy (learned a couple of good stretches).
The third was an Ashtanga yoga class, which was a great
workout. Ashtanga yoga gets the heart rate up, it's tough.

I picked up 6 t-shirts made of organic cotton for $30,
got some samples, and ate some good vegetarian food.

The main thing is that I realized that there's more I can
do to help fight global warming.

5. It was a lot of fun overall
Big crowd there too on Saturday. I wasn't there Sunday but assume it was well attended too.
