Looking For A Place To Stay For D.C. March On 17th... Anyone Know
of something relatively cheap?? I'm coming from Florida and want to bring my grand-daughter. We can ride from Georgetown, Laurel or other place if needed.

1. What is cheap?
Most hotels in DC run 169.00 and up. The Arlington Hilton and Towers usually has a 99.00 weekend rate and it is right on the metro so you can park your car and see the city by metro, the easy way to go. How long are you staying?

2. We Will Use Metro To Get Around & Don't Have To Be Right
in D.C. I have stayed in the outlying areas and used the Metro to come in. That is my plan now. I am checking with several travel sites right now.

It would be nice to get something less than $99.00 a night because I want to stay after the march to see the museums.

Thanks for the reply... got a reply for someone else who suggested The Harrington.... Waaaay too high!

3. My boss' family was in town last weekend
And found some really great rates in Rosslyn. It's just a hop skip and a jump across the bridge to Georgetown and safe and clean. It also has a Metro station to get you almost anywhere and a blue shuttle bus that will take you right to GTown.

4. Thanks For The Reply....
I had not gotten very much response so I just went ahead and booked my flight with hotel through Orbitz. May have been more expensive this way, however I got a room in College Park and checked out Metro service access. I noticed that as I checked flight & hotel info during the day, the price kept going up as I tried to find the best deal, so figured I should just "do it" and get on with the planning of my trip.

I noticed today that the price for the SAME place has gone up $60.00 more! I checked out comment from others who stayed at the same place and the reviews were good, so I went for it.

Thanks again.

6. I Hope I Made A Decent Decision...
I got a reservation at the Super 8 Motel on Baltimore Avenue. It had some good reviews and I wasn't looking for anything too fancy. I called them and was told they have bus access to the Metro so I went for it. The price kept going up during the day and availability at the travel sites kept diminishing. I can't say it was overly pricey, but I'm not rich by any means so it is costing enough by my standards.

I ended up with one room with a Queen size bed, which will be fine. I asked about having another person if someone wanted to be there and they told me it would be fine but they would have to bring a sleeping bag or something. So I guess it will only be my granddaughter and me. Since we are coming from FL I don't know anyone who would want to share and use a sleeping bag.

I have been to D.C. several times, but never to College Park. I was going to try Cheverly but by the time I got back to it, the place was gone. So I decided I had better book something. Same thing with Silver Springs. Looks like a lot of people had the same idea I did and I booked on 2/12. Maybe that means the March will be a good one.

Any opinions about my choice???

7. yeah, hope the Terps don't win that weekend
It's March Madness, after all, and College Park can get a wee bit rowdy if there is a big game victory (and by wee bit rowdy, I mean what you might call 'riots')

but it'll be fine.

8. Whoa!!!! I Just Thought I Would Check Back In Because Of Yesterday's
verdict. I told my husband I was having second thoughts about taking my granddaughter now because we don't really "know" what The Decider may do about Libby! Or NOT do, or TRY to do in an underhanded way!

No matter how I look at it, there are bound to be some very very ANGRY people marching. I did make a decision to bring along a leash of sorts so we can stay "connected" in some way. I can't call it off now, she's really looking forward to this, but it may not be the "best" time for her first foray into a massive show of politics. We are small town people, the largest city I ever saw before D.C. was St. Pete & Tampa, FL! So that should tell you something. I live outside Sarasota in a small place near the beach and I have never been close to a RIOT!!

So, I guess I'll hope for ROTS OF RUCK!!!

10. I See From The ANSWER Page That The Do... But When I Called
a while back they quoted me a price of $199.00 a night! That was way way too much, so I went fishing! I'm set-up with with my situation now so I can't change.
