So many gunshots and Crime in DC but never news on why.

Hi,

I'm just rambling. I live in NW DC (adams morgan/mt. pleasant) area. Hearing gunshots (i know what guns sound like, been around them my entire life) has become normal for us but I never see any reports on the news about the situations etc.

For instance:

Last Friday night around 9pm. I heard cop sirens, cars skidding, and then metal crashing. Apparently, a few cop vehicles were making a blockade to catch an armed robbery suspect but the suspect ran into and through the car blockade at Harvard/Argonne NW. Cops were out there for hours and at least one "live eye" from media covered it. I saw a cop chasing the second suspect and I know it was a big issue. I watched the news day and night for the next few days but nothing. Channel 9 did a brief on it which I did not see...

Another:

A few nights ago around 7:30 p.m. we heard 4 gunshots really close. Minutes later, at least 12 police vehicles responded to the park at Argonne, Harvard, and 16th street confirming my assumption that it was gunshots. They were there for a few hours searching the park for something but nothing.

These are just a few examples.

One other thing that bothers me: Since living in DC from 2000 to present I have heard dozens of shots from guns. Not once have I ever called police because it is so common. I just heard that neighbors of the Hudson family heard gunshots in Chicago but never called either because it was so common. Those shots officials say were most likely the ones that killed Hudson's mother and brother. What have we become?
