The DC Baseball Team has a name: The Washington Nationals

http://www.nationals.com

Apparently, DC had a ball team back in the late 1800s with the same name:

What do you think of the name? I guess I'm just glad they didn't call 'em the "Senators" since DC doesn't actually have any senators.

2. yuck... that's a boring name....
I was hoping for Senators (sportspage nickname: Solons) for sentimental reasons. I remember as a kid getting more Senators cards in my packs than anything else. They were easy because they were baaaaaaaaad.

3. How long before Congress changes the name to the Ronald Reagan
Nationals? Can't DU ers come up with a better name? The Mandates?, Bush Leaguers? The Washington Unrepresented? I suck at it, you can do better.

5. They almost called the San Diego Padres the Washington Nationals
back in '74. They even released baseball cards with the team name on em.

But I can really get behind it whole-heartedly with a logo like that. So aewsomely retro!

7. It's OK
A bit boring, but I'm just glad they are bringing baseball back to DC...so no major complaints from me.

8. Can we still call them the "Nats"?
The Senators used to be called the Nats, right? I will always call them the Nats.

Unfortunately, the "curly W" baseball hat is verboten around this household for the next four years....
