I Just started Topinka meme
I just saw my fundie neighbor getting into his car he looked kinda pissed off. I said what's wrong. He said he's pissed that Topinka won and Oberweiss didn't. Now Just to have fun with him I said rather half heartidly "How can someone be pro life and vote for Topinka?" He looked at me and than said "Damn right" and than he drove off. It's going to be fun to repeat that meme to every fundie I know - tee hee

1. Topinka is a total RINO.
She had a shit fit over that Alan Keyes character back in '04.

2. If she's RINO
She will get a lot of downstater votes from Dems. She didn't carry Champaign Cty, although oddly Joe Burkett did.

Tally for Champaign Cty 52.75 for Eisendrath and 46.38 for Blago.

I will be focusing on the IL-15th race to oust the Re-thug Tim Johnson.

3. Burkett is much more conservative than Topinka.
That's the main reason she ran with him, to boost her creds with the far right. There were apparently a fair number of conservative repubs everywhere who voted for Burkett but not Topinka.

4. Hmm is their anyway to exploit that fact.
I bet you the neo cons would raise holy hell if we started saying that the Il GOP has regulated the national republican base to second class citezen status.

7. Not really.
She's the kind of moderate Republican who doesn't care about issues because its all about lining the pockets of her friends and business allies. She's another George Ryan scandal waiting to happen.

8. That's exactly right.
Her whole hotel loan deal in the nineties stunk to high heaven. Unfortunately, Blag probably won't be able to get much traction out of it, because it'll look like a classic pot and kettle scenario. We could be looking at dueling scandals for the general election. What a state!

10. Well just remember that the national gop party will pull Topinkas strings.
I do not want to my state to turn red. I am voting happily for Blago for a number of issues plus the big picture. Remember conservatives want to privitize social security cut disabilty benefits and want to enforce their morality on everyone. Blago has done a great job in fighting these bastards regardless of the mistakes he's made. Plus hes for stem cell research and made sure that kids in Il have health insurance. The last item alone I think qualifies him for relection. .

12. As I've said elsewhere, I agree completely with
everything you say here. I just hope to god he doesn't get indicted before the election.

And they better crank the hell out of turnout in Cook, because outside of a few isolated oases, he's gonna get nothing downstate.

9. I just read on another thread
Topinka doesn't support raising the minimum wage again. Probably a lot of people agree with her, but I don't think many around Chicago can survive on $6.50 an hour.

Looks likely a write-in candidate for my vote in November.

11. She claims she wont raise taxes, just cut programs further.
What can she offer that Blago can't? GOPers are already touting there ability to fund projects throug Blag's proposed extra transportation spending. I don't see her getting much support from those pissed at Blago when she only promises deeper cuts.

13. Than theres the intangible
I really don't think Topinka has the charisma to draw in people. She kinda reminds me of the nosey neighbor in bewitched. It could be just me though. :D
