Really good and impressive guy. And he took the time to really become informed on issues other than health care, which he obviously is well versed on.
He did come off as really un-polished at the time. Had a tendency to ramble. A lot. He could have benefited from some media and public speaking training.
He's a real honest person, full of integrity, and extremely smart. And I'm sure he's learned a lot from the campaign of 2004. Despite working with an unpaid staff of EIU and U of I kids, he did pretty good. They covered a lot of ground, and had a lot of committeemen running mini-call centers and GOTV efforts.
Johnson has a huge advantage in that district, having the money that comes with incumbency. In my opinion, what Dr. Gill needs two things to mount a challenge. 1. A little fundraising help from the various grassroots progressive organizations. and 2. A communications person who can help make his message more digestible, and offer a little public speaker/media training.
As for nominating him for Feingold's fund, I'm doing it right now.
