why are these people leaders in chicago's black community?

i'm sorry, but what the hell is wrong with these people? at the end of the article, it makes it sound as though leon finney does not know that we have a minimum wage in this country. perhaps he is being misquoted.
it sounds to me like these organizations have been taken over by the chamber of commerce thugs.
james compton is being quoted on aar today saying that he does not think the ordinance will stand up in court, and that it is bad for chicago.
what the hell. step away from the koolaid there, people.

Finney and other religious leaders have opposed the ordinance for fear it might make stores like Wal-Mart, Home Depot and Target reconsider their plans to build in retail- and job-starved communities on the South and West sides of the city.

Some protesters said they were tricked into attending the hearing by flyers that claimed to offer job opportunities at Wal-Mart.

Dwight Lucas said he was given a flyer at a public housing complex near Washington Park that read "Do you want a job at Walmart (sic)" and brought his resume as instructed on the flyer. Lucas said he took public transportation to the church (TWO also provided buses from six South Side pick up locations).
