Just wondering...after all that, how is Duckworth doing in the race?
I'm going to go to her website tomorrow and send her a donation.

But can anybody tell me if she's doing well enough to...well, justify what was done...?

I want her to win, but it's a natural question.

1. Not sure.
It is considered close enough by the GOP that they brought in Laura a couple of weeks ago. She raised about 250,000 by reports. She followed Cheney and Rove.

2. Neither candidate was going to be a landslide
It's a heavily Republican district. What did you expect other than a close race - regardless of which Dem won the primary?

4. I didn't expect that Duckworth would be dramatically better
I was hoping to be proved wrong.

I'll still send her a donation.

3. Did what?
I don't live in the district so your post seems cryptic.

9. i assume it refers
to rahm emmanuel's decision to stick duckworth in the race.

i think tammy has a good chance. i know that the campaign has reached out somewhat to the cegelis volunteers, and won some of them over. i don't know about the scott people. but the whole race did a lot to energize the party out there.
if the national party does what they should, which is drag out as many skeletons from the republican closet as possible, and shake them at the media, she will win. she is a very appealing candidate, a hard worker, and a smart cookie. i hope she will be herself, and not be too beholden to the corporate wing of the party when she gets to washington.

5. Better than expected, even with her half-assed campaign.
Here's a blog from the district that does a very nice job of keeping track of the race:

7. i just found this...
"District 6 is traditionally Republican, but is becoming increasingly diverse and moderate. Democrats are hoping they can win over the changing constituency. Their candidate is Iraq veteran Tammy Duckworth. Duckworth, who lost both her legs in the war, has made Iraq her main issue. She has also tried to court moderate Republicans with issues like stem cell research.

The Republican candidate, state Sen. Peter Roskam, has had fundraising help from Vice President Dick Cheney and First Lady Laura Bush. He’s an experienced campaigner who ran for Congress in 1998, but lost in the Republican primary.

Both Duckworth and Roskam have strong party backing, and are stellar fundraisers, making this race one of the most unpredictable in the country. "

11. I was a at a Tammy Event
I was at one of here coffee events last sunday, and she said a few non-partisan political publication had upgreded the race twice since the primary from Most likley Republican to Leans Republican to Toss-up. Which casued Rosko to fire his current campaing manager.

12. Has anyone noticed that...
...while Republicans candidates nationwide are keeping a distance from the Bush Administration, Peter Roskam just can't get enough of Cheney, Laura and George?

Now George is coming to town. His appearance is expected to haul in $1 million for PR.

With only a third of the country supporting this Administration, it's a gamble for him to align himself with losers. I seriously doubt that the majority of people will back him.

Then again, DuPage has Diebold...
