Saw this article in yesterday's Daily Southtown re the race for
Illinois Treasurer.

"Madigan indirectly boosts Radogno campaign"

By Mike Nolan
Staff Writer

In her campaign for Illinois treasurer, Republican state Sen. Christine Radogno haas gotten a boost from an unlikely source -- House Speaker Michael Madigan.

By so far holding back support for her opponent, Alexi Giannoulias, the powerful Madigan had indirectly helped Radogno, who hopes to replace fellow Republican, Judy Baar Topinka in the treasurer's office.

While he tries to talk about how he'd do a better job as the state's banker, Giannoulias, a political newcomer, is spending a good chunk of hsi time answering questions about loans made by Broadway Bank, a North Side bank, established by his dad in 1978.

Madigan has said Giannoulias needs to clear the air regarding loans Broadway made to Michael Giorango, a convicted bookmaker and promoter of a network of brothels. The mortgage loans were for property in Florida and an office building near Broadway Bank, and the loans were approved when Giannoulias was a vice president of the bak as well as its senior loan officer. He has since stepped down from both positions to focus on the campaign. "Everywhere you turn with my opponent, there are more questions being raised." said Radogno, a Lemont resident.

Speaking recently to the Daily Southtown's editorial board, Giannoulias said he wasn't aware of Giorango's criminal background and that he know no bank that conducts criminal background checks of loan applicants. Giannoulias' campaign is backed by U.S. Sen. Barack Obama and U.S. Rep Jesse Jackson, Jr. (D-2nd) but the 30 year old Chicago resident said he is "new to the political game" and is "not a polished politician."

I can't provide a link because the Southtown didn't post this article on-line.

This is sooo typical of Mike Madigan and the rest of the crew in the Cook County Dems. Alexi Giannoulias won the primary in March, fair and square, but God forbid he beat Mikey's boy. Didn't Daley do the exact same thing to Glenn Poshard when he ran for Governor in 1998?

This kind of sh*te makes me so angry. Mike Madigan is a prick and always has been.
