maybe i'll change my mind on con-con
got this email from my committeeman. the folks in my ward were a big party of team obama from day one. they had a bus to springfield on that cold ass february day. i kinda gotta take this seriously.

•••••

If you don't believe that Illinois needs a new constitution then you are putting all of your hopes in the same folks who have nont done anything about some of our most important issues for the last 40 years, the current leadership and membership of the state legislature. I am willing to put my trust in the people of Illinois to do the right thing. The Constitutional Convention is the same concept that Barack Obama has been trying to teach us about how to run our country. We have to start from the bottom, the grass roots, and build upward. We have tried top down for the last 40 years and it hasn't gotten us where we wanted to go. This is the time to stand up and take control of our government. Join me by voting "YES" on the Constitutional Convention and change our future.

1. I would hope you need more convincing than that, jesus.
Obama also talks about using a scalpel instead of a hatchet.

2. well, i had to admit that my opinion was based on fear.
fear of who would get to do what. something that i do not want to do. something that i work against in myself, and in my party.
i guess you would have to know dave. there were some other comments from some of the other members of the local party that made me think also.

but i have to point out this- these were some of the people who brought you barack obama.

3. and with the mess that state government is...
do you REALLY want them rewriting the state constitution?

To say I'm skeptical of a good outcome would be putting it mildly.

4. I'm not sure which way to go on this
I guess my biggest concern is that I don't trust our "leaders" to come up with something that wouldn't make cronyism legal.

5. I voted against it because I just don't trust the powers that be--yet.
My opinion could change as the country swings back to the left and toward morality. We shall see.
