Madigan: Quinn architect for new day in Illinois
Chicago Sun-Times

Gov. Quinn introduced her as “my good friend — a hardworking voice for everyday people.”

That friend, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, described Quinn as the architect of “a new day here in Illinois” and praised his emphasis on “teamwork.”

So does this mean Madigan won’t challenge Quinn for the state’s top office in 2010?

Don’t bet on it.

“We’ll probably have that conversation another day,” Madigan said Friday at the Thompson Center. “In terms of my aspirations and the governor’s aspirations, we’ll probably be making those decisions later on.”

The two Democratic heavyweights held their first joint news conference since Jan. 30, which was Quinn’s first full day as governor after Rod Blagojevich’s impeachment. The two came together with other state officials so Quinn could sign legislation about an issue Madigan has championed: protecting consumers against misleading business practices by alternative natural gas suppliers.

The real show, however, was watching the two top potential contenders for governor dance around the elephant in the room: the 2010 election.

1. never been that big of a fan of quinn's. i don't think he has much chance in
2010. i dunno, but i think that when the tax increase sinks in, on top of the increases in the sales tax, and possible increases in property tax levies in a lot of places, people are gonna tie that to quinn. unfair as it is, he is gonna wear it.
i like lisa, but damn if i want her to oversea her old man. the guy get away with enough as it is. if he decides to retire, maybe. i would still expect him to be pulling the strings.
who knows, might just be a free for all.
