Quinn threatening to cut Early Childhood Funding.

My son is in the early intervention program, and attends a joint EC/EI preschool in the chicago suburbs. Yesterday, he graduated (YAY), but at the end of graduation, the principal informed us that funding for the students in the Early Childhood/At Risk block grant program have been completely eliminated for next year in the proposed budget. The early intervention program is still in tact, as funding is handled differently and mandated for that. The EI Program caters to children with special needs and developmental delays).

Honestly, I have not had a chance to look everything up - but if this is the case, it's truly devastating to the kids and families in desperate need of access to the Early Childhood preschool program. She's encouraging everyone to write to Governor, and ask him to change this line item. Of course it will impact jobs in our school district, but more importantly - the children who will not be allowed to return or enter the program next fall.

1. Another cut is the public aid hospice benefit. So if you have public aid good

luck on decent symptom management at the end of life. Some primary docs have the knowledge. Some don't. Let's not forget the social workers and chaplains that are part of the team. Lets not forget most kids in the state who die from chronic illness have public aid insurance. I'm a hospice nurse working at a non profit hospice. We could shut down if this happens.

not included on the website is kreider services is the largest autism services center outside of chicago in northern illinois.

if the budget is not passed 230 "clients" that are now cared for in a small home setting will have to go to a state run building. it`s really going to be a disaster for many of the "clients" and their families.
