1. So far no Dem is running against him in 2010
But there is a diary over at Dkos
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/9/10/173959/249

***UPDATE: Shimkus has no Democratic challenger yet for 2010. The best way to toss the idiot an anchor at this point is to contribute to The Progressive Change Campaign Committee. Then keep an eye out for the Democratic primaries in IL-19, and contribute to his challenger.

***UPDATE 2: akdude6016 says Danny Stover is the guy we want running in 2010 for IL-19. He challenged Shimkus in 2006, and akdude suggests he's "a real progressive," with a better chance of beating Shimkus than his 2008 challenger did.

Here's Stover's Facebook page if you want to encourage him to take another swing at this dingbat.

And if you haven't already, throw a little cash toward Joe "Old Yeller" Wilson's Democratic challenger in 2010, Rob Miller, here.

3. Daniel Davis

not sure if his site is still up, though.

Here's a site with info:

I couldn't tell anything about his politics from his site. Ended up voting for him mostly because he wasn't Shimkus. I prefer to know if the Dem actually is something other than a DINO before I vote.

If that link doesn't work, go to:
http://www.elections.il.gov/ElectionInformation/SelectSearchType.aspx?id=28

and search Representative in Congress / 19th Congress

Don't know anything about him, though.

on edit: Here's his website:

5. I live in the 19th and would love to retire this pompous douche-bag(Shimkus). But, when i checked

out Danny Stover, touted as a "real progressive", I find he's a "fan" of Evan Bayh. Bayh is "Shimkus Lite" in my opinion. Of course, I'm pulling the lever for whoever has a "D" by their name on election day, but that association concerns me.

6. I didn't know that about Stover, but he ran in '08
this time around it's Tim Bagwell - you might want to see what you can find out about him.

I figure there's not much choice - it's whatever Dem or Shimkus...and I'm sure not voting for Shimkus.
