School Chief Found Dead In River
Source: Huffington Post

A body pulled from the Chicago River early Monday is believed to be Chicago School Board president Michael Scott.

Police found the body floating in the river's north branch near the Merchandise Mart around 3:15 a.m. after Scott's family reported him missing Sunday night. The Chicago Tribune reported Monday that Scott shot himself in the head and fell forward into the river. The gun was found near his body, the Tribune reports, citing unnamed "police sources."

<snip>

Scott served previously as board president until July 2006, and was reappointed early this year after Ron Huberman took over for Arne Duncan as CEO of Chicago Public Schools.

3. It's not known for sure but
the Chicago Tribune does say this:

Scott was among officials subpoenaed this summer in a federal investigation of admissions practices at Chicago's selective enrollment high schools.

Scott also found himself in the spotlight this spring and summer when the Tribune published several stories related to his key role as a member of Daley's Chicago 2016 Olympic committee and his real estate dealings.

In August, the Tribune reported that Scott was working on a development in Lawndale that would had have increased in value if Chicago had won the Olympics and built a planned cycling venue in nearby Douglas Park.

5. Just to clarify on your last point...
The Lawndale development sounds hinky on first read but there's a good chance there's nothing wrong.

...he was helping a group of ministers try to turn some city-owned lots across from what could have been an Olympic site into affordable housing. Chicago eventually lost out to Rio de Janiero, which will host the 2016 Summer Games.

Scott noted at the time that the ministers, whom he said he has known for years, came to him with their development idea in the summer of 2006 — a year before he was appointed to a committee that has been trying to bring the Olympics to Chicago.

Scott said he agreed to advise the ministers on how to put the deal together, navigate city departments and train people on how to sell affordable housing.

Any profits were to be split among the ministers because "I have no monetary interest,'' Scott said. "These people are my friends. They asked for my help and I helped them on a part-time basis.''

binge. Already on Malkins page they think this photo

shows he is right-handed

because, by gawd, everyone who is left-handed shakes with their left hand, right? :sarcasm:

Mr. Scott reportedly shot himself in his left temple.

R.I.P. Michael Scott.

edit to add, nice the way the ghouls on the right jump before the body is cold.

10. In recent years, the city and county have done a marvelous job of cleaning up the river.
There are actual fish that live in it. Still, I wouldn't eat them, even if I liked fish.
