BLOOMINGTON — Local rallies are planned for Thursday and Saturday in conjunction with the growing Occupy Wall Street movement.
Dubbed Occupy BloNo, the gatherings echo the grassroots movement that began last month in New York City and has since spread across the nation, billing itself as “a horizontally organized resistance movement” targeting corporate greed, social inequity and other concerns.
In the Twin Cities, the rallies are being organized by the Latinos for Change and Illinois People’s Action, in partnership with the local group billing itself as Occupy BloNo.
Thursday’s events begin at 11 a.m. with a pre-rally on the College Avenue bridge next to Milner Library at Illinois State University, including a speak-out at 3 p.m ...
