"BLOOMINGTON -- Steve Stockton is not quite ready to say he will be the next mayor of Bloomington. Stockton and Tennyson Osborn were the only two who filed nominating petitions for the April 5 election, but the Bloomington Board of Election Commissioners recently removed Osborn's name from the ballot.
Stockton is quick to point out Osborn can appeal the decision, and there is still the potential of a write-in candidate to mount a challenge. But it's all but guaranteed that Stockton, a retired State Farm Insurance Cos. executive, will take office May 1, replacing two-term Mayor Judy Markowitz, who decided not to seek a third term.
Instead of concentrating on running a campaign, Stockton's focus has shifted somewhat to learning about the city and listening to its residents.
With that expectation in place, Stockton sat down last week for a question-and-answer session."
It's kind of sad that in a city of 100,000+ people, only one filed papers (correctly). Does anyone know what kind of mayor Judy Markowitz is?
