DuPage County Democrats...
I do not live in DuPage County, but I lived there for many years. The place is infested with repukes.

My father was an active Democrat there years ago, and an election judge. He was a judge because he was so angry that when he tried to vote there in a primary for the first time, someone AUTOMATICALLY handed him a repuke ballot, and looked at him oddly when he asked for a Democratic ballot. He could never get anything going to convert people, and the central committee there was small.

However, my son lives there now. He told me 42% of the ballots taken in the primary this year were Democratic ballots!!!! I nearly fainted when I heard that, knowing what the county is like.

I know many of them were because of Obama, but this is an excellent sign. If we can get people out for Obama, we can convert some of them for Kerry, too, I am sure. Go to work, DuPage County Dems!!!!

Also, my son got a survey in the mail, from the DuPage County repukes. They are worried. They want to know what they can do to "regain his trust." (They never had it). They want to know why he voted Democratic, too.

He says he is going to fill out the survey, and return it, minus contact information.

You have a chance to make some inroads in DuPage County. Go for it.

1. Wasn't the high Dem turnout in DuPage at least partially because...
..of Repubs voting against Obama in the primary? You know, Repubs who took Dem ballots so they could vote for Hull or someone that they thought stood less of a chance against Ryan?

That said, I've also heard that the Repub machine in DuPage is not what it once was.....Kane is the new DuPage.

3. For some reason, I can't get that page to come up.
I wanted to see how the candidate numbers broke down for the county. If you can get it to come up, let me know.

My son did say that Obama took the most votes by a wide margin in DuPage County, but I can't verify.

It is true that Kane is the new DuPage. There have been some major demographic changes in DuPage County.

However, any time we can get DuPage County to go Democratic, it is good news. Lots of people live there.

6. I protest!
Kane's democratic numbers have been climbing year over year for a decade. We have 5 Dem county board members, as compared to Du Pages 0 and a State rep in Aurora. Linda Chapa-Lavua.

12. We just can't let Kane get out of hand.
First, we have to get rid of that big, fat waste of space Hastert. He's the biggest Bush Butt Licker walking the face of the Earth.
Unfortunately, I'm stuck with that slime-ball for my Rep.
Whenever one writes to Hastert with a concern, if it doesn't fit within his very narrow scope of reality, some slimeball on his staff responds with a very condescending letter of response.
Hastert is just another swine at the trough.
If you see a speeding car headed toward him, DO NOT push him out of the way!

2. I used to live in Westmont...
...and yes, DuPage is very conservative. But I bet you'd find a very enthusiastic turnout were you to set up a Kerry or Democratic Party meetup out there!

5. I worked at Hinsdale Central HS last year...
I was surprised at all the negative things I heard about Bush from the kids! He's seen as an incompetent idiot. Most of these kids learn politics from their parents, so there is a major change underway.

I got the survey from the local repub party too. I won't bother filling it out- it isn't postage paid!

7. I'm an election judge in DuPage
started serving in 1988 - the first primary I served we had requests for 7 democratic ballots in our precinct(3 of which were myself, my husband, and my mother). This past primary we had 95 democratic ballots - including some people who said they were "fed up" and were voting democratic for the first time!!

I got that survey in the mail too! Asking why so many people voted democratic, "perhaps for the first time" and "what can we do to get you back?" HAHAHAHAHA - they DO sound a little concerned about the trend!

8. I used to work in neonazi land, aka, Dupage
Talk about white toast and sour milk. yuch.

But, can you imagine all of those protestants, lutherans, catholics, baptists, evangelicals, etc etc etc voting for Mr. Family Values for the senate? Somehow, that is a bit of a stretch.
Obama might even carry Duppage.
