Anybody near Yorkville? I need local Information, PLEASE!!!
I am supposed to be taking a class in Yorkville May 16 thru May 18. I'll be there Sunday night thru to Wed noon. I've not yet booked a hotel room, and thus far the best I'm finding up there is the Econolodge...

I'm no snob, but my experience with Econolodges in the past has been just terrible.

Do you know anything about Yorkville? I have never been there (at least that I can remember!) Do they have anything resembling a Holiday Inn or even a Comfort Inn/Choice Hotel?

My class is being held at the Kendall County Administration Building at 111 West Fox Street. If I can get someplace reasonably close to there it'd be great.

BTW, I'm also wondering if anybody would be up for meeting for a refreshing beverage that Sunday afternoon?

Heeeelp!!!

2. Bless your heart for checking the google thing!
I did that too! I used all the searches by proximity to the address--but I was hoping somebody who knew the area could say--"hey--don't fret the fact that the Comfort Inn is 15 miles away-it is not a terrible drive even in rush hour." (or something like that, anyhow!)

Even a search of Bed and Breakfasts pretty much came up without much close to there. I just KNOW there has to be stuff there--it is a matter of finding it! :)

Besides, it also gives me a chance to float a suburban DU meetup idea!

3.  i haven't been out that way in years,
but it was the middle of nowhere, the last i looked. i would be shocked to hear that there was more than a little traffic out there even now. if you have your car, you should be fine.

4. Actually That Area Has Built Up Quite A Lot
The intersection of Ogden and Route 47 is fully commercialized and there are quite a few new subdivisions.

To davsand: There are lots of hotels up Ogden (US Route 34) in the direction of Naperville and Aurora. Along the I-88 Tech corridor, there's loads of business so there lots of hotels. It's probably about 12 or 14 miles away, but it's not a terrible drive.

Look into that area.

5. i'm sure of that
everything out there has gone nuts. i've been out that way, but not that far. i can barely find my way around.
but when you are used to the expressways around here, the traffic doesn't seem too scary. it could be, tho.
i concur on your suggestions.

6. There's a great bar
right across the bridge with wonderful burgers, I haven't been there for years, but I've been told its still there.

I think its called the Yorkville Tavern, but I don't remember exactly.

8. Would that be a place to gather?
Given that it is "hostile" turf, would they freak out at the idea of a bunch of Democrats descending on them for an afternoon? What if we promise not to spit on the floor or shoot out the lights? :)

I'll look into some of the info you guys have given me--THANKS! I can't tell you how much it helps!

7. Motels in that area are a recent phenomena.
They used to have just mom and pop's. Pretty much everything else is a 20-30 min. drive. Check Oswego which is the first town East or there is a new one on I-88 and Orchard Road in Aurora, I'll have to get back with which brand that is. You will be geeted when you enter the County that it is the home of Dennis Hastert. The Super 8 is less than a mile from your class. The area is going through rapid change.
