Quincy Herald-Whig: Tax reform advocate brings his message to Quincy
http://www.whig.com/357289607122096.php

"Ralph Martire says the education funding system in Illinois is ineffective and unfair, and he's out to change it.

Martire is the moving force behind the development of House Bill 750, which calls for revolutionizing the way public schools are funded.

The bill would primarily increase the state's income tax to 5 percent from the current 3 percent. Most of the resulting revenue would then be given to schools in the form of additional state aid while a portion would be used to give property tax relief to the owners of homes and businesses.

Martire will be in Quincy to discuss the bill during a "community forum on school funding" at 7 p.m. Monday, March 7, in the John Wood Community College auditorium.

The event is free and open to the public."
