Chicago Sun-Times: Suburb mayoral races: some friendly, some fierce
http://www.suntimes.com/output/elect/cst-nws-elect27.html

"Some are stepping down after decades in office. Others have dropped dead. And still others are fighting for their political lives.

They are the mayors and village presidents who shape Chicago's diverse suburban landscape. And a whole bunch of them want your vote.

And a whole bunch of other folks are hoping to replace, succeed and generally come to power.

More than 425 men and women are running for the top jobs in their suburbs in the April 5 election. Eight out of every 10 suburbs in the six-county region will elect village presidents or mayors -- and nearly two thirds of those 218 elections are contested."

1. Aurora's not even mentioned *sniff*
There's some nasty stuff that will be heating up with that one. The operatives are out in force against the Democratic candidate.

I haven't been in touch with anyone at Warrenville since I left the Chamber board a little over a year ago. Sorry to see Vivian stepping down. Aschauer is down right nasty as a candidate. He ran against her last time and got wolloped. (He also put a 6'x8' Bush/Cheney sign out front of his home/business at Rt. 59 and Butterfield :puke: :puke: :puke: ). Chris Stull can be petty and mean at times also, but he has a pretty good head on his shoulders and the best interests of the community at heart. Dave Brummel is an around good guy and also has the interests of the community in his heart. I don't know the fourth guy running.

3. The race here in Oak Lawn is going to be very interesting.
The present Clerk A. Jayne Powers, who is also running for Mayor had John McNamara removed from the ballot because his nominating petitions were incorrect.

Typical Oak Lawn politics. I'm planning on not voting any of them at this point. Think I'll write my own name on the ballot.
