Blago's Job Approval Dips to 36%

Little more than a year out from the election, these numbers make Blago radioactive.

Someone like Edgar would beat him easily.

Topinka quite handily as well.

He is not going to win with numbers like this. He should consider not seeking reelection, and let a stronger Democrat run for the office.

1. What happened? Not from Illinois.
I know he did some good work on prescription drug importation, but not much else. How did he drop so precipitously from August?

5. He's a hack, a corrupt, whoris, totally bought, mafia loving machine HACK!
I hate him. I will vote republican before I vote for him. Divided government actually better in Illinois, otherwise

2. So people have forgotten Edgar Scissorhands?
To pay for the excesses of Thompson, Edgar made drastic cuts. To pay for the excesses of Ryan, Blag has made drastic cuts. Dems can't raise taxes, like the Resmuglicans it's user fees. There won't be any changes under the GOP except more setbacks to labor, students, and the poor.

4. He actually saw/understood the problem and dealt with it.
We all owe him a debt of gratitude for his death penalty actions.

My question is, with all the local, county and state indictments flying around, who will be left standing?

6. The only reason i can still vote for Blago is beacause
of his stem cell policies, gay rights stance, and he has guts to stand against the prolifers. Respectfully I dont see Topinka getting out the gop lifer base and il is too moderate to place in a bible belt conservative.
I do hope that Dan Hynes or Jack Frank will run though and in a worst case scenario I will still vote for Blago because of the reason's I outlined.

7. Madigan, and by proxy Daley have announced support for Blago
That means there will be no serious primary challenge, and with ratings like this, I don't think that's a good thing.

9. Same here.
I'll admit I'm not as up on many of the details, but at this point it doesn't matter to me.

From what I've seen he's done a more than decent job in trying to take care of the citizens. For instance, the flu vaccines. IMO, he got screwed by the Bush admin on that one, but I give him credit for taking action to make sure his citizens were taken care of.

Thing is, the highest level of Illinois government have been corrupt for a very long time. It's never going to be perfect and enemies are always going to be slinging charges. But when it comes down to it, I'd rather have a D than an R any day of the week.

11. What does that mean.
Both have supported Blagojevich - Madigan by signing on (along with Emil Jones) as his campaign co-chair, and Daley by saying exactly that when talking about Edgar.

But anyone who suggests Daley speaks for Madigan - or Madigan speaks for Daley hasn't been paying too close attention to Illinois politics for the last decade plus.

10. No one else is running.
Like him or not, Blagojevich is your nominee.

But it appears Edgar is out. And Topinka is hardly a shoe-in. No one spends 20 years in Springfield and keeps their nose clean -- besides, she'll have mutiny that she's a "RINO."
