State Journal Register: Repeat traffic offenders still have licenses
http://www.sj-r.com/Sections/News/Stories/70604.asp

"How many traffic tickets have you had in the past 12 years?

Two, three ... 10?

How about 102? Or maybe even 185?

At least two Springfield men have racked up more than 100 traffic citations in their fairly short driving careers - and both still have valid driver's licenses.

According to Sangamon County Circuit Court and secretary of state records, Donald L. Feagans III and Jason E. Holman, both 27, have been cited so many times that one local attorney says they should inspire anger among local residents."

Perhaps a debate/discussion of Illinois traffic law to follow? I don't drive, so I couldn't help.

1. How?
I get one speeding ticket and they take mine as bond. How the fuck are these people keeping theirs?

2. Maybe since they live in Springfield
They have high up friends in the Secetary of State's office. I've known Jesse White to run a clean ship, but I lived in Springfield and actually did a stint at the SOS office. I wouldn't rule this one out.

3. Oh, please
I've lived here a year, and can't believe the way people drive. If they actually did anything about traffic violations NOBODY in this state would have a license! Why do Illinoisans think getting where they're going is more important than the lives of people on the roads along the way?!

4. You can't? I have lived here all my life and I can't either
And the driving is getting worse. People think nothing of tailgating, cutting each other off, etc. You see people all the time on their celln phones wavering and weaving around lanes, clueless to the traffic around them. When you toot the horn about it they give you the finger.

A guy who moved here from Rome was hit by a guy late for his golf game. He was in the right lane and Mr. Late Golfer turned illegally into his lane and then proceeded to chew out the legal driver for "making" him late. He thoinks we are the worst drivers in the world

5. If they actaully started issuing tickets
and collecting fines, it would do wonders for state and local budgets! Not to mention lives saved.

6.  You're right and now I will tell another story
I was on a tollway at the tollbooth at about 10:00pm and a red convertible corvette coming out of the toll booth cut off a state trooper as he sped out of the toll booth. The mars lights went on in a split second. It was hilarious!
