Lugar is with Frist on Nuclear Option!
Edited on Mon May-23-05 05:03 PM by Progressive4Life
Just received this from PFAW:

"Sen. Evan Bayh has been a steadfast protector of checks and balances and has courageously stood up for the Constitution against this blatant partisan power grab. Sen. Richard Lugar, however, has chosen to toe Senator Frist’s party line and break Senate rules to end the 200-year old filibuster."

Well, peeps, we know the drill! Call his office, and tsend a message that he must support democracy.

Also, if you haven't signed up for PFAW's MIR, please do so now. Time's a-wasting!

1. Lugar is a company man. A hack. Partisan bootlicker.
I'll call his damn office and urge him to abandon Frist on this but I don't have much hope he'll change his vote.

And again, Evan Bayh is surprising by his fierce support of the Dems. Good lord, what's gotten into him?

Important post, Progressive4Life. I'll contact Lugar's office right away.

5. Lugar is a dinosaur that should be defeated in 2006
I hope the Democrats run a strong candidate against this aging puppet, instead of ceding the election outright.

6. Agreed. Who would be a good candidate? Lee Hamilton?
Joe Kernan? Jesus, I hope it's a strong candidate with some good backing.

12. Lugar is the Senior Senator from Indiana (Republican)
Bayh is the Junior Senator from Indiana (Democrat)

8. I wrote/called a number of times
And never got a straight answer from his office... no response to email, and staffers seemed to indicate that he was against it in principle....he might have been part of the 25 that would have voted against it if it had been secret. Nice backbone--pfht.

11. To paraphrase Gilbert & Sullivan
I always answer my parties call,
I never have to think at all.
