I-69 hearing draws attention to new hearing limitations (Oakland City)
Associated Press

OAKLAND CITY, Ind. - Police ordered protesters to remove a display table from a school where a public hearing on the Interstate 69 project was being held.

Officials cited school and state policies on liability, but one of the protesters who spoke at the hearing Thursday at Wood Memorial High School hinted the move was intended to stifle dissent. <snip>

East Gibson school district maintenance director Jerry Richardson said the school board now requires a liability waiver from any outside group using the building.

But the Evansville Courier & Press reported in a Saturday story that a new state Department of Transportation policy bans protesters from circulating petitions or literature at public hearings in space reserved by the agency. <snip>

2. The Bush policy of stiffling dissent is permeating into the Mitch Daniels
gulag in the making.

What's next, secret hearings?

3. It was already there
My uncle worked with him when he was at Eli Lilly - you Hoosiers are in for even worse. This guy makes Woodrow Wilson look like a man of conciliation, always willing to compromise with those around him.

5. Oh, great!
And on top of that, Daniels suffers from the short man syndrome, like Napoleon.

6. Of course
it's not like Blago over here in Illinois is a whole lot better, though at least he's not a Republican.

4. A man just called Peter Werbe's Detroit radio show about I-69
He related events that occurred during a recent demonstration in Indiana against the highway. He asserted that although they were peacefully demonstrating, the police tasered a number of the protesters. They were rounded up and brought to jail along with bystanders who were not part of the demonstration.

Here's the site for their organization http://roadless-summer.org/index2.php
