Can someone in the Indianapolis area help a woman?
I've known her for a few years and watched her life get progressively worse. I won't go into the details here, but she desperately needs some form of public assistance, particularly health care. She has no job, no money, three kids, deteriorating health and a real shitburger of a guy whom she lives with.

I'm in California so I know nothing of Indianapolis/Indiana resources.

I don't know if web sites or other types of referral will do much good, as she's probably checked every one she can find. What she really needs is an advocate, but at this point I'm willing to give her any leads I can.

Please PM me if you know of anything. And thanks.

1. Hi, OR. I don't know much about it, but I wonder if it would be useful

for her to contact Congresswoman Julia Carson's office in Indianapolis.

Her staff is very good and would know which agencies to call for advocates.

That would make it a more direct rescue and avoid the cyber-hunting.

Her webpage is: http://juliacarson.house.gov/

Carson is THE Democratic member of the Indiana Congressional delegation and has fended off Republican challengers for a long time, so her seat is safe and she's well-connected to the greater Indianapolis community.

Just a thought.

3. You bet, Oeditpus Rex. I hope it works out for the woman you're
trying to help.

Sounds to me like she's lucky to have a good pal like you.

Good wishes.

6. God love her.
She used to be Marion County trustee and did that kind of stuff all the time. Her staff will know the shit.

4. I would recommend trying :
http://www.hhcorp.org/ Health and Hospital of Indianapolis. They are a non proft that runs a slew of different programs throughout the county. I think that the Health Dept is also associated with HHC. Hopefully someone there could point her in the direction that will get her the help that she needs.
