Woot! :applause: The mantle of the Chimp is finally starting to weigh heavy on state and local Repubs.
Voters angry at incumbents Ire over Toll Road, property taxes and time may carry over into ballot box

What Bette Osman knows should worry politicians -- especially Republicans -- up for election this year. Voters are mad, said Osman, a longtime GOP activist in Perry Township. "They sure are," she said.
She got an earful from some of them recently when she called who she thought were strong Republican voters, encouraging them to come out and vote in Tuesday's primary election. At stake are nominations for Congress, the Indiana House and Senate, some county offices and judges, in addition to the election of school board candidates. In some cases, longtime incumbents are facing serious challenges within their own party.
Voters may be in the mood for change.
One woman told Osman she'd switched to being a Democrat out of disappointment with Republicans. Another said she was so fed up with those in office that didn't know whether she'd vote at all, Osman said. In Osman's Southeastside neighborhood, people have concerns that are both close to home, especially property taxes, and far away, such as illegal immigration and border security.
House Majority Leader Bill Friend, a Republican from Macy in Northern Indiana who is trying to help his party keep control of the Indiana House, said voters are angry about many things. Some don't like Indiana's switch to daylight-saving time; some are unhappy about the state's decision to lease the Indiana Toll Road to a foreign consortium. Others, he said with frustration, are mad about things Indiana lawmakers can do little or nothing about, such as soaring gas prices, President Bush's job performance and the ongoing war in Iraq.
