Bayh!
What are the chances that Evan Bayh will get the Democratic nomination in 2008? I think that he could win if he made it to the general election. He's electable, alright. Reminds me of Bill Clinton with his moderate views.

Plus, I've already sent for my Bayh! bumper sticker.

3. Very GOOD
Bayh is on the move. The 3 potential 08 candidates in the money ar Clinton, Kerry and Bayh. He's done very well in Iowa. People like him inside and outside of the state. The race for the whitehouse is on.

6. Clinton? Kerry? Bayh!
Hillary Clinton is way too polarizing of a figure. Right after 2004, I was excited about having another Clinton in the Whitehouse, but the hard truth is that not enough Americans share the love of her that some Democrats have. If she wins the nomination, can she win the general election? I'll support ANY Democrat that runs, but I really think that we can do better than Hillary.

John Kerry had his chance and a wonderful chance at that. If he couldn't have won in 2004, with such a great opportunity, I doubt that voters will want to invest in him again.

Evan Bayh is just the guy that can win an Iowa caucus/New Hampshire primary and the general election.

Hopefully more Democrats will notice this guy as I have.

8. I respect
....each of these politicians for different reasons. Clinton withstood constant GOP attacks while first lady and she never buckled. I respect her because she made her own way and has done a very good job for NY. You are right though people either love her or hate her.

Kerry gave it his best during the 2004 election. In terms of votes he lost by one football stadium of Americans. That's respectable. he's got some making up to do on giving up so soon after the votes were in. Lots of folks still mad at him. Kerry by far has the BEST healthcare plan I've seen by any politician. Lets hope that whoever gets the nod will continue with it.

Bayh is not popular with the far left but in general they make up a small faction of the Democratic party. Most of those folks are actually greens or independents. Nothing personal because I fall into that category on many issues. Bayh has been consistant with his voting record. He has always been a Democrat first. A year ago he was merely a blip on the net for 08, now everyone is talking about his possible run. Iowa loves him big time and that's where it all begins.

The best way to determine which candidate has a chance at 08 is by donations. The top three in the money are: Clinton (40 million est that it will be around 16-18 mil at the end of her Senate campaign), Kerry, 14 mil left over from the last election, Bayh 11 mil and climbing.

4. Well, for one, he has a slim chance, IMO.
He has only recently stopped acting like Republican-lite. To me, his recent statements smell more of political posturing than actual moral, ethical, or spiritual convictions.

I would vote for him in the general election, but not in the primary. There are too many other qualified candidates who have had consistent positions in the last 4 years who align with my ideaology for me to consider.

5. I heard recently that he is getting ready to flip on Iraq and say it is
time to "get the heck out." If so he will have my vote.

7. Yes and this is what he said.........
http://msnbc.msn.com/id/12907997/

Bayh calmly answered that “I wouldn’t cast the same vote today as I did then.” He noted that “the French believed that (there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq), the Germans believed that, the Russians believed that, everybody believed he had weapons of mass destruction.”

Bayh said if the Iraqi factions “get their political act together — and we will know this in the next six to eight weeks… if they can form a government… then there’s something to work with there.” If not, then “we’re out.”

9. ... and getting votes is the only reason he's changing his tune ...
... Evan lives and dies by sticking his finger to the wind and seeing which position will gain him the most popularity. He's never taken a stand and stuck with it, thru thick and thin, because it's what he believes.

He'll never, ever be half the public servant Russ Feingold is.

The comparisons between Bayh and Bush are maddening - a pretty boy, lightweight stuffed shirt riding his daddy's coattails because he can't get a real job - and I truly and honestly cannot believe that anyone with any political intelligence would consider him a contender for anything.

10. bashing Bayh to support Feingold is
weak. It's obvious some say anything to advocate for Feingold. It's a real shame when Democrats turn their backs on other Democrats to bolster their own agenda. Feingold is a decent Senator and after much communication with his grassroot supporters and his staff they have insured me that they do NOT advocate Bayh bashing as part of their agenda. It only drags him down and makes EVERYTHING he does look staged.

Bayh is a waste of skin all on his own.

I worked for State Gov't in the aftermath of the Bayh Administration.
What a freakin' disaster. The man and his cronies couldn't find their asses with both hands.
