http://www.wthr.com/Global/story.asp?S=5135399Indianapolis - Governor Mitch Daniels has a series of appearances scheduled around Indiana Tuesday and Wednesday, where he's expected to announce that the state's budget deficit has been eliminated.
In a brief appearance Monday in Indianapolis with House Republicans, Daniels said the state is out of "the hole."
Last year, Daniels and Republicans enacted a two-year budget projected to erase a $600 million deficit by June 2007, although Daniels pledged to cut costs and find savings in hopes of balancing the books by the end of last month.
Democratic House Minority Leader Patrick Bauer says the current budget is a "sham" that relies almost entirely on property taxes to provide funding increases for public schools.
The question I have is this: now that the state supposedly has all this money from the toll-road thing a majiggy, WTF is little Napoleon going to spend it on? Who's going to get it ? Goddess knows the roads are in shitty shape, as is the state environment, not to mention the skyrocketing crime rate and piss poor education system and graduation rates across the state. So, Mitchy-boy, what're you gonna do with all that chump change you're sportin' ?
