3 other officials also leaving Daniels administrationJoel Silverman, beleaguered commissioner of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, announced his resignation Wednesday, part of the largest shake-up of Gov. Mitch Daniels' two-year-old administration.
Silverman's decision follows a rocky 21-month tenure that included a botched computer upgrade in July. The effort led to myriad record-keeping problems, customer confusion and long waits at many license branches. He did not offer a reason for quitting, but Daniels spokeswoman Jane Jankowski said the BMV chief had planned to serve in the post for only two years. He will leave Oct. 16.
