Why do we not see ANY ads for Scott?
The only things I've seen that suggest he's even running are a few yard signs (on public property, so they don't count) and his name on the same bumper sticker as Bush and Daniels. Are they just completely writing him off so they can spend money on Daniels?

1. He's probably not polling well.
I'm not sure about this, though.

If you're in Bloomington, IN this afternoon, be sure to get to the IU Sample Gates for the Kernan rally.

3. They NEVER support him.
He's run for Congress before, now Senate, never gets any money spent on him....

Don't suppose it's a Matter of Melanin, do you?

Marvin's a smart guy, other than hitching his star to the wrong party. He should come into the Light...

8. So have I, he seemed intelligent to me...
Other than this "Colonel Sanders" thing he's got going with the GOP...Which just KILLED it.

9. LOL!
You're right about the Colonel Sanders thing.

I met him at one of those annual Repug county dinner (don't even ask how I got into one of those--long story). I didn't get one sentence that wasn't GOP talking points from the national campaign. No demonstration of higher order thought at all.

Maybe he was just having a bad night or maybe he was just staying on script.

4. Heard an ad for Scott on the radio
WHHH has been playing a radio ad.

I watch very little TV so to say I haven't seen any ads doesn't mean much.

11. Saw those for the first time this afternoon
in Monroe County - looked quite pathetic. Funny that I see them here - but not in Indianapolis, where he is based.

10. Republicans will vote for Evan Bayh in droves
They recognize one of their own!

Marvin Scott is a better man than Bayh, and on some issues he is more moderate!

Scott's crime is that he is African-American, a clear no-no for Hoosier Republicans.

12. 'involuntary immigrants'
Edited on Sun Oct-31-04 07:26 PM by Hoosier
I've spent hours with Marvin Scott (over several events) over the better part of the last decade. There isn't much there. He spews talking points and always drops William Bennett's name. Always. They're apparently pretty good friends. I haven't really spoken w/ him in a year +, since Betting Bill's vice became public. I would hazard a bet of my own that he doesn't drop his name anymore. He's shallow and uninformed. Hell, during his speech at the RNC he said his ancestors were 'involuntary immigrants'.
Whether he's to the left or right of Bayh is another debate, though his talking points put him right of Bayh --- check out http://www.marvinscott.org/ He's spewing the fear/Hilary/LuvW bullshit.
He has no backing from the Indiana Repub Party, that's why he has no money.
He'll be lucky to get 35% of the vote.

13. ok, I feel less crazy now
thank you for eloquently describing the man I met.

I think you're right about the lack of backing from the Indy Repukes btw...his applause was a bit light from the crowd of repukes I saw him speak to.
