TERRE HAUTE —

Thousands of people are expected to gather at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.,
on Friday and Saturday to pray and demonstrate for peace on the fourth anniversary of the
United States’ invasion of Iraq.

Wabash Valley peace activists are sta-ging events in conjunction with antiwar activities
in at least 400 cities throughout the United States this weekend.

The Sisters of Providence will conduct a peace prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Friday
in the Church of the Immaculate Conception at St. Mary-of-the-Woods.
The prayer service is open to the public and people of all faiths.

Also, the Terre Haute Stop the War in Iraq group has organized

a “We are the Deciders” demonstration from

11 a.m. to noon Saturday in front of the Vigo County Courthouse.

Participants are asked to bring pots and pans to hit with wooden spoons to honor journalist Molly Ivins,
who died recently. Ivins wrote about the war and suggested in her last column to attend a demonstration
making noise on pots and pans. Activists think there must be more “noise” from the public to persuade the
Congress to defund the war, according to a news release from Terre Haute Stop War on Iraq.
