ACLU-Indiana Sues Over No Fees for "God" Specialty Plate
"The lawsuit claims motorists who request the plates receive preferential treatment because they do not have to pay a $15 administrative fee that the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles collects. The administrative fees are collected for other specialty plates, but the 2006 law establishing the "In God We Trust" plate waives the fee."

2. I think this lawsuit would not be needed IF
they also offered

"in yahweh we trust"

"in allah we trust"

"in budda we trust"

"in goddess we trust"

"in no one I trust" :D

I know I've said that before, but if you have it for one group with no extra charge, you should have it for all.

3. Check this out
http://www.topix.net/forum/source/indianapolis-star/TEIGJSR696O8J891T
Indystar.com comment board, this article was published 6 hours ago from the time I make this post, now over a thousand comments have been posted, 90% from right wing religious wackos. Where are these people posting from? Hidden somewhere in cave in southern Indiana? Cause there isn't that many people Indianapolis who act like that. I figure it's a couple of people posting under different IDs or chicksh*ts to scared to say this stuff in public that post on those boards daily!

5. No shit!
I would also like a license plate as a counter to "In GAWD We Trust" such as one saying "Separation of Church and State."

8. If there were demands for many different license plates
they JUST MAY decide to eliminate all these specialty plates.

7. It's not so much the G*d thing ...
... although of course it's going to be construed that us 'Commie Libruls' hate Jebus.
Its that the 'Kids', 'Environment', 'Black Expo', 'Arts' plates - hell probably even the 'Colts' plates - all come with an EXTRA fee. The Jebus plates don't.

If they're 'specialty' plates, then ALL or NONE should have a fee attached.
If they're not specialty plates, then they're offensive (to some of us) and violate the separation tenet.

Very wise way to slice the bean, Mr. Falk! :)

9. All or None -- Absolutely -- NONE
All these different specialty plates. Wouldn't it be better if they contribute directly to the organizations of their choice? I would think the organizations just might receive more individually then if they received just a flat amount from each plate.

One possible way to force the elimination of all specialty plates would be to demand more specialty plates. And to demand plates that are completely wacko.

Another possible way would be to create as much bad publicity about the plates as possible. For instance, let others know whenever someone with the "Kids Special" plate speeds while transporting a child. Or when someone with a "In God We Trust" plate is involved in an abduction of a child resulting in the Amber Alert being initiated. Both happened.

Some are actually saying they are not a specialty plate.

If these people are such supporters for church then go to church and stay in church.

10. I totally agree with you.
Can't count the number of asshole drivers with 'Kids First' plates, or Hummers with 'Enviro' plates ... and now I'm noticing jackasses with the Jebus plates too. Its a freakin' farce if you ask me - "Buying absolution" so people can wear their 'see how socially conscious I am' on their sleeves/vehicles for a small donation to the state while not actually making the first effort to do anything about that which they claim to stand for.

11. Whenever I encounter a lcar blaring its music
or a driver who's speeding, I look to see what kind of plate they have. Yep, that plate seems to show up more than others. Too bad their "god" hasn't taught them respect for other people or for the law.

12. Kick'em in the nuts ACLU..
I knew it, I just knew there was a reason why there were so many people were getting or had these fucking plates. Its a damn Con!!! They cut the fee and of course people are going to get the fucking plates, my mom did for that very reason, to save a little money.
