I'm not sure why you are so angry about this, Liberal Fighter; perhaps you can enlighten us on why we're all "idiots" for getting involved this early. Frankly, the more I know about the candidates, the better, so I personally welcome anyone running to jump in early. Gives me time to dig up background on them, determine who I will support financially and as a volunteer, plus it gives them more time to put their foot in their mouth during a "macaca moment" like the one we had in Virginia last fall.
You do realize that it takes money to run against an incumbent, right? And you do want to get Mitch out of office in 2008, right? So why are we "idiots?"
So far, it appears that there are three Democratic candidates for Governor; Senator Richard Young (D) - the 20+ year Senate Minority Leader Jim Schellinger - an architect with CSO Jill Thompson-Long - a former congresswoman from northern Indana
While Jill has not "officially" announced, she was introduced to the crowd at Saturday night's Indiana State Jefferson-Jackson Day Dinner as one of three Democrats running for the spot, so I anticipate her announcement any day now.
The only one of the three with a solid, public voting record is Senator Young, NOT to be confused with that Sen. Mike Young, the putz representing District 35 (my district, unfortunately). They are no relation at all - thank God!
Perhaps you can enlighten us, Liberal Fighter - do you know of someone else who is running but unannounced? Perhaps your preferred candidate has not stepped up yet? Maybe you're thinking of running yourself?
I'm just curious why you think that supporting a Democratic candidate this early makes us "idiots?"
Having personally met several of our Indiana DUers in person, I can tell you that none of them are even close to being idiots; they are concerned about our state's future, and you should be, too.
