Here on the west side of Anderson, a town that is supposedly being revitalized economically, blah blah blah. This morning I went with a friend right down the street to eat breakfast at a place I last ate at probably a year ago. Yeah, definitely closed down. And it's a small restaurant that's been here for a long time. A couple days ago my neighbor told me that one of the two groceries down the street from us is closing. The shelves are now almost bare...I should get my butt down there to see what I can find discounted before they close. This means the very large stretch of businesses on that side of the street will now be vacant other than a Rentway, a pawn shop, a dollar store, and a couple restaurants. It never ceases to amaze me how our town government is boasting of economic growth, but the growth seems to stop right at the railroad tracks that divide the town. Quite depressing...
