SOUTH BEND — Pamela Williams doesn't understand why she can't keep her car in her driveway, even if it doesn't work.
A Code Enforcement officer put a notice on the vehicle Tuesday saying Williams has 20 days to get it fixed.
Williams said the car isn't an eyesore. It's not on blocks. It's tires aren't flat. It just doesn't run right now, and she can't afford to get it fixed, she said.
Gary Libbey, assistant to South Bend Code director Catherine Toppel, said that, unfortunately, state law prohibits homeowners from keeping cars that don't run on their property.
