Updated: Dec 29, 2009 10:34 AM EST Indianapolis- More than 60 Indiana National Guard soldiers are returning from a 10-month deployment to Afghanistan, where they worked with farmers to improve the production and marketing of their crops.
National Guard officials say 63 members of the 1-19th Agribusiness Development Team are expected to arrive in Indianapolis early Wednesday. A welcoming ceremony is planned at Stout Field.
The unit left in February for Afghanistan after undergoing agriculture training at Purdue University and instruction in the country's language and culture at Indiana University.
