Hey, who has a DU bumper sticker in Broad Ripple?
I saw a dark blue hatchback with a DU bumper sticker, one supporting Russ Feingold and something else I can't remember at Glendale. Whoever you are, it's the first time I've ever seen DU anything out in public.

:)

11. We were at the 8:20 Iron Man 2.
I mean, we were...cough.. at a rally for some worthy cause, near the Kerasote theaters.

3. Another Indy DU type
I take classes at IAC in Broadripple . . . and a Du member. Sounds like the makings of a local chapter.

5. Yeah . . . I know the feeling . . .
. . . the real idea, though, should be to do what Frederick Douglass said: "Agitate. Agitate. Agitate!"

6. Indeed it should, but alas, even such a small group as this ...
... "Indy DU'ers" couldn't agree 100% on which positions we wanted to support or, conversely, protest. Although most of us did show for the anti-war protests in 2003/early 04 and some of us were involved in the Dean Organization at that time as well.

Now I think our 'activism' is limited to occassional 'Drinking Liberally' gatherings on Thursday nights at Spencer's Tavern downtown.

7. Well, it is amazing how fragmented the U.S. Left is . . .
I've been a member of DSA since the '80s -- and it's amazing how much divergence of opinion you get with that group too. By the way, where's Spencer's Tavern?

8. Spencer's is actually a tic south of downtown, just across from Lucas Oil Field

Spence apparently used to be a State or County Dem big-wig and got sick of all the plucking and opened Spencer's instead.
DU'er Voltaire can tell you more, he lives a couple houses away from him.

10. Spencer!?! !
Holy. I know him. :)

In fact, I photograph his kid for their Christmas cards, etc. Maybe we should all have lunch at the tavern sometime? We may not be able to get a regular thing going, but it would be cool to meet up from time to time.

9. Beer?
I am always game for beer!

Drinking Liberally meets on Thursdays, which is my bowling night. Bowling season is over for the the summer (hint).

14. Time for a local DU meet up?
Spencer's would do, as would just about any place that serves beer.
