Im torn between the less of 2 "evils"

I really, really want to support Ellsworth for the Senate but his views on many vital subjects shy me away from full support. And I know if I do not support him then that is just the same as another vote for the hideous Coats. Sorry if there's been other posts about this but it is just really bugging me. What are your opinions?

so for me, Coates is not even a consideration. I haven't read Ellsworth's platform yet but he'll get my vote. I'm still P.O.'d at Bayh for his late withdrawal. A bastard and coward for what he did to Indiana.

I was talking more about voting for a 3rd party if there is on or not voting for Senate but both ways are votes for Coates in essence and I cannot let a POS like that get into Washington. It's disgusting why people will still vote for Coates even though he lobbied against their interests in Indiana. And I agree that Bayh is a real piece of work, crying about Washington being broken when he was a piece that broke it. His ego got the best of him, I believe and its not a surprise to me either.

3. When comparing backgrounds of both

there is surely no question about what or who
either represents. The most telling item for
Coats, for me, is his service as a director of
IPL when their sale to EAS was approved. Plus
his service to lobbyists and lobbying firms leaves
no question whatsoever that he will not represent the
ordinary citizens of this state. On the other hand
Ellsworth is certainly no screaming liberal but at
this time seems to possess the characteristics of one
who at least acknowledges the existence of ordinary
working people who reside in this state.

of EAS should have been AES. Also, irrespective of anyones
support or lack of support in the Senate race. The urgent
and very important aspect of this falls voting will be the
ability of Democrats to maintain control of the House. This
is a prime target of the GOP and there will be no holds barred.
Mitch needs this one more than ever and it will give the GOP
another opportunity for the office-holder to select their voters.

5. Ellsworth vs Evil

I live in South Bend, IN and have the same problem. I am also very active with the Democratic Party.

I decided that I would vote for Ellsworth as he does vote for some of the progressive agenda. Coats would NOT vote for any progressive agenda and would do the state and the country more harm than good. Therefore, I will vote for Ellsworth. I just won't be volunteering to help in his campaign.

I had always voted for the lesser of 2 evils in the past but isn't that what keeps this cycle going? I will most likely just not cast a vote this time.

I cannot in good conscience support Ellsworth because of what Indiana Green says upthread. But voting for Carpetbagger Coats makes my stomach turn.

Just one more example of the very sorry state of American politics.

9. There is no law that says one must vote for every office on the ballot

I am more concerned about saving my Congressperson who is running for reelection handicapped by Obama's leadership failures. Far too many people are taking Rep. Carson's reelection for granted. I am taking nothing for granted, and I will be working to keep him in the House.

I will abstain from voting for the office of US Senate.

10. Doesn't that position then strengthen any vote for the opposition?

Just thinking this is not a good position to take if one
wishes others to support their candidates. I also live in
the 7th Cong Dist and will vote for Carson even though I do
not agree with him on all of his positions but I sure as hell
don't intend to strengthen a vote for his opponent.

Asking one to vote for an anti-choice and anti-LGBT candidate makes as much sense as asking chickens to vote for Colonel Sanders.

Surely there are compensating issues worthy of consideration.
I am certain your issues will not gain any support from the
opposition. I am not critical of your position but only want
to emphasize that it adds value to a single vote secured by
the opponent.
